For the last 12 years Kristel Rensmaag has called Fort McMurray home. Prior to moving here to find employment as a teacher, Kristel lived on Vancouver Island for 6 years and grew up in Maple Ridge, BC. She loves traveling (she’s been to 15 countries!), playing volleyball and slo-pitch, coaching, the outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. She lives with her 10 year old fur baby, Gracie, her cutie patootie daughter, Kenzie, and her beautiful wife, Cristina.
She was on the Pride YMM committee last year that helped organize the first family friendly pride event in Fort McMurray and is excited to be a part of the planning committee again for this year’s event.
She currently holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Victoria, Bachelor of Education from Vancouver Island University and a Master of Education from Nipissing University. Her favorite thing about counseling is building connections with individual students and helping them navigate through their emotions to build capacity within themselves to overcome whatever obstacles they may be facing or could face in the future.
