My name is Meghan MacMaster and I grew up the youngest of four children in the tiny picturesque village of Guysborough, Nova Scotia. I completed a Bachelor of Science at St. FX University in Antigonish Nova Scotia. Upon completing my undergrad in 2007 I moved to Jasper, Alberta and it was here I fell in love with travel, the mountains and mountain life. In 2009 I spent a year backpacking Australia, Thailand and New Zealand and did an additional full year in New Zealand before deciding to complete my Bachelor of Education at the University of Maine in 2011. I have lived and been teaching in Fort McMurray ever since and am ever thankful for the opportunities Fort McMurray has provided me.
In my spare time I love scrapbooking, reading or listening to audiobooks, spending time with family and friends, playing sports and being outside. When the weather allows I can be found exploring Fort McMurray and especially the Birchwood trail system with my partner of 6 years and our two young boys, aged 3 and 1. I make many trips a year with my family to the mountains of Canmore and absolutely love everything mountain life has to offer.
One of my favorite things about teaching is building a repertoire with my students both inside and outside the classroom in settings such as spirit days, sports and other extra curriculars. I love seeing students blossom and their confidence grow as the school year progresses and they gain new knowledge and skills.
