Science & Math

I am very excited to continue my role teaching junior high mathematics and science this year at Ecole McTavish.  I earned a degree in Kinesiology and Applied Health in 2008 and a degree in Education in 2011 where I specialised in Middle and Secondary Education.  I began my teaching career working at a Canadian school in Cairo, Egypt for six years, followed by two years teaching in Nova Scotia.  I have spent my career teaching mathematics, science and physical education at the junior high and high school levels.
I grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba where I had the opportunity to play elite volleyball and softball which is something I still enjoy today through coaching and league play.  I am an outdoors enthusiast and enjoy all activities on land and water regardless of the season.  I love to travel and experience unique adventures.  My favourite trip was the summer we spent in Costa Rica.  The outdoor adventures were endless and we had the most amazing time hiking around volcanoes and ziplining by waterfalls.

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
