Social Studies & Études sociales

I am the youngest of nine children. My family is originally from Newfoundland, but we have lived all over Canada, including Nunavut, Ontario, and Alberta. I love to travel whenever I can and experience new foods, beautiful sights, and different cultures. I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2010 with a major in French and a minor in English. I was quite fortunate to be able to complete the third year of my undergraduate degree in Nice, France. There, I was immersed in the Southern French culture and attended the Université de Nice. This life-changing experience definitely enhanced my love of the French language and culture as well as my desire to continue to travel the world.

I earned my Bachelor of Education Degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2011 with a focus on intermediate and secondary education (7-12). I have been teaching at École McTavish since it opened in 2011. I have enjoyed every minute spent with the impeccable staff and the diverse group of talented students that we have at our school. This year, I am teaching Social Studies/Études Sociales 20-1 and 30-1.

I send periodic email updates so that parents can stay in the loop of what's going on, but students are responsible for keeping up with their course responsibilities. Google Classroom will be the platform for daily information and any important upcoming dates. Please feel free to contact me by email if you have any questions or concerns.

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
