I was lucky enough to part of the staff at Ecole McTavish when it first opened up in 2011. McTavish has been, without question, one of the best schools I’ve had the privilege to be part of, and I am thrilled to be back and working with everyone here.

I studied English and Music at Queen’s University and I later went back and completed a certificate in Creative Writing along with a Mental Health and Addictions program. For the most part, being in the education field for all this time has helped me appreciate the extraordinary resilience exhibited by students during a time in their lives when they’re growing up and learning how to navigate tough decisions.

Outside of school, I play a variety of sports, from badminton to softball to the occasional volleyball. I read and write a lot, and one of my favourite things about Fort McMurray that has changed since I left has been the emergence of coffee shops in and around the city. I also sing and dance, though not very well, and I have a love-hate relationship with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
