I grew up in a small fishing village called Port Stanley, Ontario. Growing up on a Great Lake  gave me a real appreciation for the natural world and exploring it. This inquiry has propelled me to explore all parts of the world as I love to travel.  I have lived in many parts of Canada and now call Fort McMurray home. I have been in Fort McMurray for the last 10 years and have been teaching in the district the whole time. I love teaching at McTavish, the students, staff and sense of community here is amazing! It truly feels like home.

I am a naturalist loving all things outdoors. You can find me walking the Birchwood Trails daily with my dogs. Working in the garden, supporting green initiatives in the district and our community. I am a creative and peaceful soul who loves cooking, good music, renovating homes/cottages and furniture. I practice yoga daily and think it's truly important to find some time in your day for reflection.

Before my career in teaching I completed a Diploma in Food and Beverage Management from Fanshawe College  and worked in the Hospitality Industry for over 15 years. When I decided I needed a change in life I went back to school and  I received my Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Western University, and continued on to a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University.

My favorite thing about teaching is that no day is the same, students have great energy and make you feel young at heart. I love my job, and that's what I love about teaching.

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
