Ms. Amy Lyn MacDonald

My name is Amy Lyn MacDonald, and I am proud to serve as one of the Vice Principals at École McTavish Public High School.
I was born and raised in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, where I began my career in education. In 2007, I moved to Fort McMurray and have since spent the majority of my teaching career as a High School English Teacher before transitioning into Special Education.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science from St. Francis Xavier University, a Bachelor of Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a Master of Education in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Calgary. My graduate studies allowed me to focus on two important areas: Educating Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and School Counselling Psychology. These experiences have fueled my passion for Inclusive Education and my commitment to supporting the safe, caring, and supportive environment that École McTavish provides for all students.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family. We love to travel and spend our summers road-tripping from coast to coast, exploring Canada’s beaches with our two pups, North and Wolfie.
If you ever have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at amylyn.macdonald@fmpsd.ab.ca or by phone at 780-790-1100. I look forward to another wonderful year of learning and growth at École McTavish!
